She graduated from blue.
The Virgin Mary is traditionally draped in indigo — that's the Christian convention, the color of devotion and obedience. But the Madonnas I draw are always in purple. Always have been.
The simple answer is that purple is my favorite color. The more profound answer is that she's dressed in violet because she is no longer waiting. She is leading. She represents the psychic shift happening in human consciousness right now — the slow, irreversible movement toward peace, community, and a new way of being in the world together. The third eye is open. The sixth chakra is glowing. And she is standing right at the threshold between the physical and the spiritual, holding the door.
This piece came through during a period of intentional isolation — a time when I went offline to charge my own third eye and listened hard to what my intuition was telling me. What I heard was that her image is timeless. That she doesn't expire. That every time you need her, she will still be there, glowing.
Hang her where you think. Hang her where you pray. Hang her where you are trying to hear something you haven't been able to hear yet.
The Violet Threshold: Violet is the crown, the third eye, the frequency of transformation complete. The Black Madonna's Glow lives here because she is not a symbol of devotion to something outside yourself — she is a mirror. She is the part of you that already knows. Asé.
